On the evening of Monday, 23 March 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa, took strong and decisive action in the government’s response to the coronavirus crisis and announced a national lockdown effective from midnight on 26th March 2020.
The shutdown will last 21 days, coming to an end on 16th April 2020. This decision was a necessary step that had to be taken in order to flatten the rate of coronavirus infection and flatten the curve.
The Workspace fully supports the decision taken by the South African government and we understand that this approach is the only way to reduce and hopefully stop the spread of the virus.
As citizens, we feel that this is the time for the nation to unite and work together towards this common goal.
In compliance with the national shutdown, all branches of The Workspace will be closed from 17:00 on 26 March 2020. The offices will be open to everyone who wishes to continue with any last-minute work and to collect their belongings until then.
No members will be granted access to the premises following this until the shutdown is lifted and we will reopen at 08:00 on 17 April 2020 (with the exception of any further government mandated actions).
Our administrative staff and branch managers will be able to assist you remotely with any account enquiries over this lockdown period. Please phone your branch for further information and contact details.
In the event of an emergency, call our national tollfree number 0861 250 259.
Our team will keep supporting you remotely and online to help keep all businesses as operational as possible. Look out on social media platforms where we will be posting informative and helpful content.
Please speak to your branch manager should you have any queries or concerns regarding any of the above information. Weekly updates on The Workspace response to COVID-19 will be provided.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to the people who have been affected by this unprecedented event and we appreciate the healthcare workers, local communities and governments around the world and in South Africa who are on the front line working to contain this coronavirus.
We can only echo the President’s closing words from Monday nights address – ‘God Bless Africa’.
